Mohsen Rahmani is a Professor at Nottingham Trent University. His research activities span over light-matter interactions with various subwavelength nanoparticles for applications in flat optics, near-infrared imaging, bio-sensing, etc. He obtained his PhD from the National University of Singapore in 2013, followed by a postdoc fellowship at Imperial College London and the Australian Research Council Early Career Fellowship at the Australian National University (ANU). In 2020, he moved to Nottingham Trent University as a Royal Society Wolfson Fellow, followed by the UK Research and Innovation Future Leaders Fellowship. Rahmani has published more than 70 peer-reviewed journal papers (H-index=36). He is the recipient of several prestigious awards and prizes, including the Australian Eureka Prize, Early Career Medal from the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics, and the Australian Optical Society Geoff Opat Award.

Dr Cuifeng Ying is a senior lecturer in the Department of Engineering at Nottingham Trent University (NTU). She is an active biophysics researcher specialising in the use of nanostructured sensors (e.g., nanopores and plasmonic nanotweezers) to characterise disease-related proteins at the single-molecule level, with the goal of facilitating early-stage disease diagnosis. Dr Ying received her PhD in Physics at Nankai University in 2013, where she utilised photonic crystals and plasmonic nanocavities to enhance fluorescent signals for biosensing applications. In 2016, she joined the Biophysics group at the Adolphe Merkle, Institute at the University of Fribourg, as a postdoctoral researcher, focusing on single-molecule proteins characterisation using solid-state nanopore technology. In 2021, Dr Ying joined the advanced optics and photonics (AOP) group at NTU as a theme leader.

Lei Xu, Associate Professor in the Department of Engineering, School of Science and Technology, Nottingham Trent University. Lei obtained his PhD in Optics from Nankai University in 2014, followed by post-doctorate fellowships at The Australian National University, and the University of New South Wales. In 2020, Dr Xu joined Nottingham Trent University, where he co-developed the Advanced Optics and Photonics Laboratory and Group. His research focuses on exploring and engineering light-matter interactions at subwavelength scales for applications in linear and nonlinear meta-photonics, imaging and sensing technology, and reconfigurable meta-devices.
